Beneath the stairs of the first floor, surrounded by dark hallways and dimly-lit
rooms, a group of men, women, and transsexuals prepare in the fenced dungeon that

Sex Club, a place where people engage in uninhibited fornication with consenting

is one of the biggest, and first legal, sex clubs on the West Coast. Because the
club is highly secure and open to a variety of sexual practices, it is a haven for

This is an essential Thursday night of pleasure for a group of twenty or so friends
and acquaintances who meet for their monthly gathering to play in erotic pleasures

This particular crowd welcomes a diverse range of people who are nondiscriminatory

There are no limits with toys and play, as long as the members are consenting. It

Ericson, manager of the Power Exchange, recalls an event from one of the Fetish
Balls—a themed monthly venue at the club that attracts a massive crowd and has been
deemed the busiest night of the month. During a particular Fetish Ball evening,

in 1998 from a smaller location on Harrison Street to the more spacious Otis Street
building. Visitors of the club must come inside with an open mind and a mature demeanor.
Even though the club is extremely liberal toward sexual desires and preferences,
it still adheres to a strict set of rules, and all drugs and alcohol are prohibited
inside.

“Respecting the visitors of the club is highly emphasized,” says Ericson. “We don’t
tolerate immature behavior.” The tattooed manager with a ring hugging his nose explains
that this business is just like any retail business and that customer satisfaction
is vital to keeping the club up and running. The friendly Ericson ensures the safety
of his guests, greets customers, and exchanges smiles and words with regulars. “Safe
sex and sanitation is very important,” Ericson says, pointing out the numerous baskets
of condoms, paper towels, gloves, and hand-sanitizers available in every room.

Joe Weigand, a sixty-three-year-old dominant, makes sure he does an extensive cleaning
after a scene in which he causes his submissive partner to have an orgasm with a

Service Submissive who are "always there"

For the record, this is not a commentary on anything going on with me right now. All is fine right now.

One of the things that has always been difficult for me as a service submissive is that most of us sincere ones fall into the category of "always there", which probably needs some explanation. Imagine yourself as a dominant woman. You have this service submissive who is loyal and will do practically everything you ask/tell him or her, and this goes on for awhile. Two sorts of things often happen that make it an interesting situation.

1. Proximity of finding what you are seeking (the sincere submissive already in your grasp) makes you feel that perhaps it might be easy to find someone just like that submissive but with extra bells and whistles. Maybe the next one is more attractive, wealthier, a different gender or whatever. So, you start going back out and exploring the multitudes of submissives out there, knowing that the statistics indicate that the odds are better for you finding what you are seeking rather than not finding what you are seeking. So, you find that more attractive one, bring him into your midst, and on the surface, it looks like you found what you were seeking. Then after a few months of fooling you, he or she reveals that he or she is not really exactly what you were seeking but was playing along in hopes of interjecting his or her personal fantasies (which don't fit the service paradigm you imagined). So you dump this new submissive to the road. And then you realize that the one who was what you were seeking is gone, and you kind of missed it while you were having so much fun with the one that was going to replace him or her.

2. When this service submissive comes into your life, you take complete advantage of him or her, and everything seems to be going all right. But you're a busy woman. You have lots of things on your dance card, so you continue doing what you're doing, and you're completely in bliss because you have this person who cooks, cleans and does everything else you desire. This gives you lots and lots of more time that you really didn't have before because you were more self-sufficient in the past, so you start to get out there in the scene even more. You attract many more players, and your dance card is filled even further. Then out of nowhere, you come home one day and the service submissive has been snatched up by another woman. And you never even suspected there was anything wrong. Oh sure, you heard him griping a bit about never seeing you, but you allowed him to show up and clean, even though you had to run off and attend a party, so "would it be okay if you locked up on your way out?" and other such things. You could trust him; I mean, he's been your dedicated house slave for months, if not years. But then he's gone, and you have no idea why. Obviously, he was not a "true" service submissive. Now you'll just have to look for another, or not look for one at all because the last one was obviously too much of a bother; I mean, he left without a warning.

What both scenarios actually signify is a sense that the service submissive is always going to be there, and if he's not, he's easily replaceable. Anyway, I've observed this a lot over the years, both with myself and with those around me. Yet, I keep seeing the exact same things happening no matter how much experience those in the scene have.

Anyway, just a thought for a Friday evening.

if you have a strong reaction to or feeling about a situation or specific master/mistress, what determines your level of involvement if someone appears to be in service to or in negotiations with that situation/person?

Let's say you have never met "Slave Z" but you've seen their posts on Tribe. They are either in service to or working towards being in service to "Master A". You've met "Master A" in person and felt that he or she was uneducated/ill-informed/inexperienced to the point where "Slave Z" might be in danger were he/she to engage in a TPE (or any sort of M/s relationship) with this self-proclaimed "Master".

What's the etiquette around satisfying your need to let the potential slave know about your misgivings without slandering someone with whom you have no *direct* M/s experience?

i know this is rather vague, and i wish i could be more specific, but i don't wish to endanger anyone or engage anyone in conversations that might result in a negative reaction from someone to whom they are submissive. I'd say that this is hypothetical, but it's not. So I suppose I'll leave it at that, and if anyone feels comfortable responding, I'll be grateful, and hope that I'm not the only one to read the responses.

Has at times felt that it would stay focused on the MASTERS sexual needs if it was chemically castrated, temporally at first,
to test, but if successful can be castrated.

So, my former Dom used to talk about having me wax his nether portions, but we never got around to it. Now, I have a male friend who is interested in trying this. I've given myself a Brazilian before, although I go to a salon these days because, well, it's just easier to have someone do it for you. But I think it would be interesting to try waxing as a service, and I think he might enjoy it, although neither of us is entirely sure. So . . . have any of you ever done this for a gentleman? His pain tolerance is good, and while I've never waxed those particular parts, I am pretty knowledgeable about how to wax (pulling the skin tight, waxing against the direction of hair growth, pulling it off quickly, etc.) I think it would make sense to use the kind of wax you heat rather than the cold wax strips, just because of the density of hair. And, yes, be very careful! Would you trim first? Um, what else am I forgetting?

Professional pedicure training?

Is there anyone on this list that can recommend a resource for learning professional grade pedicure and manicure? I am not simply looking just for a short workshop or a "quick and dirty howto" on painting nails. I truly want to learn how to perform professional quality pedicure as a form of service to a Lady. However, I do not have the time to commit to full-time classes at a beauty college during the daytime. Night classes might be ok. The ideal might be private instruction from someone who has formal education as a pedicurist and is able to teach privately.

a different dynamic

I now have a lover for whom I am a service submissive, among other things. But I discovered when doing the tasks for him I tended to let my own tasks go. So I did what any switchy service sub would do- I got a service submissive of my own.
I was struck by how interesting this was when I had my sub do the laundry so I could serve my Top over lunchtime.
Has anyone had this experience? How did it work out or not work out for you?

I am putting together a discussion group for people who identify as submissive or slave. Inspired by Vi Johnson, I am calling this group the Submissive Safe Space. The purpose behind this group is to give submissives and slaves an opportunity to connect with other like minded people and to share ideas, information and resources in a supportive environment.

We will meet the second Wednesday of each month from 7:30 to 9:30 at Stormy Leather, 1158 Howard (in the city). THE FIRST MEETING IS JULY 11, 2007! Parking is available along both sides of the street. A $5 donation is requested. This will be a completely enclosed space in which no person who identifies as a Master/Mistress, Owner, Top (in a D/s context) will be allowed. This space is not intended to be a Dominant-bashing session. It is intended to allow its attendees to grow as submissives and slaves in whatever way they define that. It is intended to allow its attendees to ask questions about, and get support for, issues that they are struggling with as submissives and slaves. It is my belief that every person has something valuable to contribute, regardless of how long or to what extent they have been participating in the D/s lifestyle. Therefore, this group will be open to all genders, orientations, and expressions of submission. Tea Server Training

On Sunday, July 8th, we will be holding a tea server’s training class. This will be at a location in El Cerrito this time. The class will be from 10am until 6pm. Please do not attend if you must leave early, will be late, or feel the need to miss parts of it. The cost for this class is $35. Please bring exact change in cash.

While the class is sponsored by the Northern California Ladies’ Tea and Discussion Society, www.twistedteas.org/ , you do not have to be on the list to attend. The class is open to anyone interested in service. When you have completed the class, you will be qualified to serve at the teas held by the ladies in the Society.

The class will cover kneeling and standing, how to address the ladies, how to carry trays, how to serve a cup of tea, making garnishes, making and garnishing the food for a tea, how to serve food, and how to give a ritual footbath and foot massage. A sandwich lunch is included in the cost of the class. (If you have food allergies or special needs, please note this on your RSVP.) A workbook is also included as part of the class.

We do ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel. Because a lot of the “materials” for this class are perishable, we ask that if you must cancel less than 24 hours in advance, that you pay for the class. Please don’t sign up if you don’t plan to attend. Class size is limited, and we often have to turn people away due to being full. Be kind and cancel if you aren’t going to be there.

People attend this class for many reasons. Some tops attend in order to learn the skills. The skills are transferable to many other situations, so they are valuable to learn. For instance, Superbowl parties where submissive women pamper dominant men could use most of the skills we will be teaching.

New to BDSM and to Tribe

I'm new to Tribe and to BDSM. There's a lot changing in my life right now, including the fact that I have recently been collared by my loving Master. It's a little difficult right now because we are seperated by almost 2,000 miles - he is in Fresno, California, and I am stuck in Texas. If plans go accordingly, I'll by there by June, at the latest. For now, it's been a rough transition because we were together for only a few weeks before he moved. We hit it off soon after we first met, but the timing was not as fortuitous as our chemistry as he had already planned to move prior to meeting me.
I had realized before we even met that this was the missing part of my life - that I'm naturally a submissive and needed someone to guide me and train me and dominate me for me to feel complete. But it didn't come to fruition until I really had my first experience with him dominating me. I didn't realize this kind of lifestyle was truly possible. I've learned a lot in a short amount of time, but I know there's gads more for me to absorb.
Any relationship would groan under the strain of such circumstances, and one that requires such communication and trust as a Master/slave relationionship is no different to maintain, if not even more difficult.
But my life plans mesh well with that of my Master's, as I want to someday become a winemaker and plan to do that by attending California State University-Fresno. Besides serving my Master, my passions include wine, reading and writing.
I am new to this, and any suggestions about how I can better serve my Master despite the distance seperating us are welcome!

Hello, I'm Mike West. I teach Japanese-style rope bondage, and co-produce live underground bondage shows. Neither of these activities pays horribly well, so I also have a "straight job" that is somewhat demanding, but not insanely so. However, the combination often leaves me with loose ends.

I'm testing the waters for a personal assistant.

While I know this tribe tends towards the Victorian, I'm looking for more of a smart, sharp 30-50's style secretary. I'm kind of disorganized and absent-minded, so you should be on the ball and hyper-organized. As hot as Mr. Grey was in the movie "Sectretary," that's not me. I don't micro-manage, and I don't punish for small mistakes. If you do a good job, I'll reward you with praise and increased responsibility. If you do a bad job, I'll let you know, if you don't measure up after time, I'll let you go. So if you want a spanking, don't fuck something up, just ask for it.

You'll get to audit all my classes, and depending on your personal proclivities, get personal lessons and/or get tied up a bunch yourself. You should like pretty girls, because despite my troll-like nature I seem to be surrounded by them a lot :) Most of your duties will be pretty easy at first, mostly picking up packages and managing the paperwork at classes and shows, then expanding in time to helping maintain the studio and taking care of correspondence for my events.

You should have:

1. A car, valid DL and insurance (I'll reimburse for gas, etc. when you are running my errands)
2. A reasonably fixed (or flexible on your terms) schedule for whatever day job(s) or classes you might have. I'm only looking for 4 hours every other week, at least at first, but I need to know that if you commit to something, you can follow thru.
3. GREAT organizational skills, preferably with non-electronic means (day-runners over palm-pilots)
4. The desire to treat this as seriously as (or moreso than) a paid job, and balance your responsibilities to me with your responsibilities to your play partners, family, finals, etc.

I don't expect to jump into anything, so if you are interested, we'll start one event or task at a time. If you like serving me, and I think you're doing a good job, we'll discuss some sort of time-limited contract. And this offer is not overtly sexual, but somewhat sexualized, so
note that I'm looking for a girl.

I borrowed a book from our house's library called "Mrs. Dunwoody's Excellent Instructions for Housekeeping" by Miriam Lukken and it's great!

The concept of the book is that the author uses the character of Mrs. Dunwoody (a Southern Belle and housewife extraordinaire) as a device for discussing the minutiae of keeping a house in perfect shape and looking amazing. There are tips on everything from making your own toothpaste and soap, using flowers and herbs to scent rooms, cooking, cleaning, gardening, entertaining and a host of other skills and tips to really take home care to the next level.

I will be picking up a copy of this for myself ASAP! :)

Service sub needed for Burning Man

Greetings! My Master and I are seeking a service submissive to accompany us to Burning Man this year. We are looking for a submissive female who would submit to both my Master and myself. You would be expected to care for both of us by preparing our meals, keeping our RV clean throughout the event and in general attending to our needs as they arise. I've been watching the History Channel and they're doing this bit on Demonic Possession.

People who undergo an "exorcism" report standing aside and letting the demon come forward. They're normal people who have learned to partition their minds and let something else come forward.
Bob Larson, a guy who does a lot of these things and who may or may not be a charlatan, says that people feel peace and actually feel, in his words, "lighter".

His exorcism's include the exorcee screaming and being held back and restrained either physically or by their own self control and then undergoing an extreme psychological release.

Makes you wonder how many "normal people" are really just discovering the benefits of a good emotional cleansing and reset and the joys of release that we've learned can be brought on by submission, pain, and self control.
I'm not saying anything, I definitely don't won't go into anything about religion around here. I'm just putting the pieces out there.

I *do* think Bob Larson is a fake, but only because I know a con man when I see one who understands psychology.

Service, needs and intention

I've recently had to go back to basics on my service, in order to recalibrate to my Owner's desires. For our relationship, service is all about intention and mindfulness. The fact is, Madame can do all of the things she asks me to do, and many things she can do better, because she does them exactly the way she wants them done, whereas I have to learn them. So, anything I do for her comes purely out of her desires and not her needs and she is not dependent on my service. This empowers her, but is quite hard for me.

In fact, if I don't put the right intention into my service... that i'm doing this to please and honor her, and that it is a form of connection just as important as fun time, play time, intimate time etc... even if she isn't there (especially if she isn't there. Without that intention, there's absolutely no point in me even doing the service for her.

So, what do these concepts mean to y'all and how do you incorporate them into your relationships?

Bootblacking

Bootblacking is one of my all time favorite things to do. i go into sub space immediately. Nothing is more beautiful than a nice pretty pair of boots. Even if it's not real leather i can make it pretty. Someone just asked me about polishing snakeskin boots and i was stumped! i've handled snakes before, so i know the qualities of snakeskin when it's on the snake, but not as far as boots are concerned. Does anyone have any pointers?

At a loss for words

My Master has demanded I find a new word for referring to my testicles. Normally I have a pretty good vocabulary, but i'm at a loss this time.

Out of the question so far are the course usuals such as balls, buts, etc.

I've proposed pouch and roe because those were all i could think of after pouring over a thesaurus and a lot of time on the internet.

Does anybody have any pleasant euphemisms?

"Ultimately there are an infinite number of ways to do a relationship. As long as they don't cause harm, then there is no inherent value of good or bad to them. Ultimately, you and the person you engage in determine the appropriate way to do things. There are many things that my Owner provides for me, and others she does not. She does however, ensure that if she cannot/will not meet some of my needs, that I have avenues to pursue them elsewhere. It is ultimately my responsibility as the servant to use those avenues to get the needs met.

There are service oriented people who are not masochistic and would be happy to serve without that. There are others who are masochistic, but whom you could find sadistic friends to hurt them for you. I'm reading through and finding information as fast as I can, especially in this forum, but I'm also very busy this week with finals so I'm requesting pointers, comments, and links to direct my search.

Part of my role for my Master is to be a place for her to release her aggression. We've talked about it and I've proven to Her that I have a pretty resilient hide that can take anything She can met out and more.

Part of the growth for Her in this relationship is that She is learning to not forgive people just because they apologize. She has told me that it would help her to release that aggression, at least until She can tap into it at will, by being a little defiant at the start of our sessions. This is a little bit of a paradox for me because I don't normally want to make Her angry, but part of my service in that case *is* to make Her angry so that She can relax a little.

(I know I'm not being used in a bad way, I suggested it as a way for Her to wind down)

Any comments, references, etc would be welcome. I want to please Her and I know it's temporary, but I'd still really appreciate some input.

Hello tribe! Your moderatrix is in need. Life has been extremely hectic lately, and I am looking for help in cleaning my loft in SOMA on a regular basis. I do need someone who is detail oriented and reliable, as my home is being sold and is constantly being viewed by potential buyers. I am curious, how do you as submissives and Dominants maintain balance between your submissive/Dominant selves and other aspects of yourselves? I am both a slave and a little girl to my Daddy Dominant and i find it to be quite a challenge to reconcile the headspace of the two! I imagine the challenges must be similar for people who balance thier D/s lives with work or family etc.

Sewing for Master

I am sewing a pirate jacket for Master. It is Simplicity pattern 4923. So far all the pieces are cut out and I am stay-stitching the first pieces together. I have some sewing experience but nothing like this. I am enjoying learning between moments of slight panic. There are many of terms I have to look up. My mom and sister usually help me, unfortunately, they are on vacation =/. I have to finish it by Saturday evening. Sewing is a great skill to have. I know my Master will be very pleased when I have it down. Do any of you guys sew?

I removed the topic on "non judgment" for the following reasons.

1) A private email with name was quoted as public. That is not appropriate and not acceptable.
2) Flaming brought on by conversations in other tribes was introduced. This is also not appropriate.

This is not a tribe to flame, attack or air dirty laundry. The question that started the thread was valid. It may have escalated unpleasantly in other tribes, but I absoliutely don't want that unpleasantness flowing over into this one. Additionally, when someone sends email that needs to be respected as confidential, not publicly aired to support an argument. That is extremely bad form, and as I consider confidentiality and trust to be key to open conversations in this forum, I need everyone to understand I will absolutely not tolerate breaches of conduct in this area.

For the original poster, feel free to repost your question, sans the unpleasantness from the other tribe conversations.
